As many of you know there was a lot of commotion over the PB2 (public beta 2) hoverboard controls since there was such a drastic change from PB1 to PB2. Many people were unhappy with the results of that change. However, There, Inc. has made a big effort to satisify our requests for an integration of PB1 and PB2 controls. So the question is, are you satisfied with the new PB3 Hoverboard controls? Please thoroughly test them out before choosing your answer and feel free to elaborate on your choice below.

I'll bet you're happy, Spliff, man. I know you were pretty upset by it all, as I was. I think they totally rock now. How about you? Time to dust off that old Galaxy!

While the PB2 controls were vastly superior to the PB1, the PB3 controls combines the best of both worlds. There Catalog

Well it's not like boosting in the air ever did anything before. Now it actually does something. There Catalog

I love them. My first few minutes in PB3 were spent on my board and I kept falling off because I was moving too much in the air and landing funny :/ but after a while I have become used to it and like it better than PB2's controls. Good job There people

I think the controls are an improvement, but they have some old problems and some new problems..
They didn't bring back the "ride the wind" trick, which I really liked and a lot of people were hoping to see that come back.. but no such luck.
There's also a new bug.. if you jump.. press the Down Arrow.. and then hold it there until you land, you automatically fall off, and then the board stays in that position for a while, or until you hop on or pick it up. DEMAND SLIPPERS!!!

We don't get "ride the wind" and yet if you do it just right your board shakes like you are. Annoying... And most of the time you can get around falling off by hitting boost right as you land. One thing I AM happy aboot is I got my beloved "give the board a big hug" move back!!

Here's my full and honest opinion about the new hoverboard controls...
I appreciate the fact that THERE has given the boardrider more control over their weapon of choice. PB1 was so nice and clean, you could hardly ever mess anything up, which was sorta' unrealistic, but hey... it was great for racing and great for cross-country action. When PB2 came out and the inclusion of infamous *TRICK MODE* (and I do mark that like the opposite of *TREAT* from Halloween) the hoverboard could do so much more... which was cool until you tried racing... and did unplanned barrel rolls or worse... flipping upside down and not being able to to ANYTHING about it... until you smashed your head into something and fell off. it was painful to watch. In short... it was hard to control. There was such a huge uproar over "Sloppy" and "DENIED" controls that most of the people who were active racers (then) just stopped riding the hoverboard...After a short jaunt learning the new tricks, I fell into that camp and got to know my buggy during the rest of PB2. Which ended up being a good thing.
Now that PB3 is here, Some tricks are different, the Cruisers' Performance has improved... radically! The new addition of falling off easier is more realistic... nice. *TRICK MODE* no longer stops the Avatar from manuvering once the "trickstart_fail.ogg" sound plays indicating you failed to trigger *TRICK MODE*. Okay... they got one problem solved, but they still haven't solved the -OTHER- *TRICK MODE* problem for racers (...bashing your Avatar's head into the ground once he/she flips over in mid-air). The (now) more sublime *TRICK MODE* - STILL DOESN'T DO WHAT A RACER WANTS IT TO DO -... keep the board from getting out of control.
Quite honestly I like the ability to do tricks, but there are times when they aren't requested and they just happen anyway. It takes away from the fun of racing when you twitch... just a little... and the Avatar goes flying out of control.
Personally, I'd like to see a *TRICK MODE* defeat option or *RACE MODE* under THERE > Customize > Controls > tips and tricks... right next to "Default to Action Mode", then you could turn it on and off like you do "Action Mode"... as I requested in the Survey from PB2. Giving the User a choice could make (almost) everyone happy.
I'm sure most of you will agree with me that the new (PB3) hoverboard controls are ALMOST right... but not quite... not just yet.
- Any Thoughts ?

B.T.W.: I'm pulling off some pretty good race times in PB3.

Well I never used anything but the current controls, but I have to say that the only thing that bothers me is what digitaltiger touched on...its pretty easy to accidently do a trick while racing--I'm not really racing yet, but been practicing laps A "trick defeat mode" option that still lets you access jump to clear a ramp (i.e. ramps facing backwards) without having the tricks activate would be very nice.

I find the controls just as good....i like it.
But i find it very sensitive when it come to landing....you got to land very nicely, if you dont keep getting off the board.
Not to good when you are having fun with a board that is not yours....you fall off and someone else take your board and ran off. hehehe

i dont eally have a problem with the controls. with practice, you get used to not moving in mid air, or just turning. i guess you just have to be careful o_O

You could've only had PB3. The numbers represent the stages of the beta ie, PB1 (Public Beta1), PB2 (Public Beta2), and so on...and you call yourself, "Putermaster14"? LOL! History is a joke played by the victors on the vanquished in front of an audience that dares not laugh.

I love the board controls. I only joined PB3 and I think they are perfect in everyway. I am mainly into trick boarding but I tried racing and I found at first like people said, I accidentally did trick moves. Since then ALL i have done is trick boarding and I even founded a club for boarders who prefer doing tricks (Xtreme_Boarders). Now, if I race at all, I am so used to the trick combinations that I know which buttons NOT to press when I am racing. So I suppose a tip for racers is, try some trick boarding

I find the controls very intuitive and easy to master. The ability to turn in midair without "trick mode" is a Godsend.
