Let's just say this took a very LONG time, a ridiculous amount of patience, and unbelievable stubbornness to complete.  Anybody that has every tried building a high skypad will probably understand what I mean.  Definitely the most difficult project I've ever completed.

Now check out the world's first "Spacepad" -- the only floating platform in There that actually obeys the laws of physics:  ;)  :beerchug:

This was the second attempt that I made at building one of these.  I only spent a fraction of the time on the first attempt before my stuff got returned to inventory.  This time I made it all the way up :)

At the time of this writing, I am the only soul that has ever set foot on this Spacepad, as I worked on it in semi-secrecy and kept its location a complete secret.  It's been quite a unique experience!  There is an awesome view from up there, and having a platform in space opens up so many possibilities.  On the downside, there seems to be a technical glitch with objects that are placed this high up.  The whole Spacepad seems to flicker.  I might try building a test pad a little higher to see if it helps... I'll let you know the results of that.

Here are some more pics associated with this project, which I've been calling "Project Up" for some time now. (click links to view)

So when is the "first" space party going to be?
Someone needs to make an astronaut outfit for up there.

 BIG Congratulations Spliff!  I would have made it up there but lost my motivation a while ago.  Very good work!

I have some helpful tips for you, IM me sometime when you see me in There.  I too recognized that great stackability of those things...  They make work easier.  Out of curiosity have you timed the freefall from your pad to the ground?  I've got the method of working things out to a science and could figure out how long it would take to stack that high if I knew the freefall time.  Thanks.

Well it takes about 11-12 hours of non-stop hoverpacking just to fly up to that point in space.  I'm not sure how long it would take to freefall... a few hours I guess.

How far along are ya?  When I first saw Tyr on the horizon I thought I was pretty close already, only to find out I still had very far to go.  I was like UGH!

In an effort to fund a hoverboat in Public Beta 3, I am going to put my Spacepad up for auction -- makes a great show and tell piece or collector's item!

congrats spliff, from a fellow skypadder. you beat us to it! But we have/had a nice pad that affords an impressive view of the islands and a 10 minute freefall (major rebuilding going on after the new release removed most of ours).
I'd love to come up and see your place sometime. =^..^=
