While some people are still in There all the time, others I hardly see logged in anymore at all. If you left today, what would your reason be?

This one should be multiple choice, and include "legal", "copyright", and "privacy" issues

I posted a similar reply to a query in the main forums. There continually surprises me and allows me to find something new every single time I log in. Be it social, terrain, trick, or physics experiment. I should make a list and post it, adding to it every day lol. I know it will lose some appeal eventually, but with pb3 right around the corner, the anticipation is growing. All those new bookmarks!!!

My SW galaxies cd's are in the mail. We'll see what happens then.

Yeah, for me it would definitely be not enough to do yet.  There's plenty to do, but everything gets old eventually.  Right now I like how they keep adding more stuff to explore and more stuff to check out.  However, I don't think I'd still be playing if it weren't for two things.
One, I have a real life friend in There.  It makes exploring and just hanging out much more fun for me.
Second, I eventually started to make some money.  Early on, I didn't sell much and was usually under 2k at all times.  If I didn't start making money, I doubt I would have stayed as long as I have.  I just kept things interesting. There Catalog

For a lot of people it's the fashions that keep them coming -dressing up or down for events and just being a "person" in game with their clothes in conversations and such.

Light's being modest, his designs are -superb- and I love the new tiger and zebra outfits! Check out his site, it's a whole new you in-client lol.... grrr!

The time.
Being in England means official hours are 1am - 7am.  While i've been doing ok so far, It's hardly practical :p

I know there is the backdoor but it's just not as fun during the day with few people around.  Hopefully more people will be on during the day when There lets people log in at any time.

There is loads more people around in offhours these days than there was when I started only two months ago....guess more and more people know about the backdoor now ;)

But I do sympathize - I'm in England too and it sucks that we can't go to the cool events organised unless we stay up all night. As I have to get up for work at 5.30am everyday, it's not practical for me at all, and I know I miss out on a lot. :( i'm just glad we have the backdoor to use. "Cake or Death?" ~ Eddie Izzard

I've gone from 40+ hours a week to under 4 hours last week in There. I need a break. I'll be back in There more, when there is more to do.

Oh and the list shows up for me to vote again though I voted last week. So I have no idea what the total is on this poll anymore.

Well, Im not sure what my answer to this is yet, but if i had to choose i guess it would have to be the 'bored' one.  I usually pop on for a couple of hours every day or so and it just seems like I can never find something to do.  Maybe its because Im a newbie and dont know where all the good places are, or because im really shy and still feel like butting into someone elses conversation is rude.   Either way i still feel like some sort of outcast or lost puppy without a place to call home yet lol... PUt it this way. If the Idiocy of There keeps up. I'll be quiting There real soon.

reasons i'd consider leaving

1) the signs are becoming downright annoying to the point every place i go i'm lagging having to load 50 signs of crap. those billboard signs took the cake if they don't fix them soon There will become nothing more than a ####ty tropical junkyard of crap.

2) People renting out 6 fun zones at once. Ussually the most popular places. While doing this they charge a fee on places it cost them nothing to rent. It wouldn't be so bad if the host took the time to design a track or were at the event for a majority of the time. But in this case it was neither. It was a cheap attempt to make easy money for little effort while tying up tracks for noone else to use.

3) nothing much to do outside of the same events. Don't get me wrong i love some of the events now. It's just theirs not enough variety in what you can do. I like to dabble in alot of things and i'm finding myself doing the same things over and over. Once that happens you get bored and lose interest. If i keep burning myself out on particular events i'll eventually stop doing them and thus some hanging out in there. Hopefully PB3 will help.

I'm not planning on leaving any time soon, either.  I log on almost everyday and, like Digital, I'm continually finding new places to explore or things to do.  When I'm not exploring, I'm meeting new people and I've been lucky enough that most of them have been fun to talk to and just plain nice.  I can see, though, how someone who spends a LOT of them in There could become bored.  I also sympathize with KPShadowcat... I too sometimes feel it's rude to just butt into a conversation.  Nonetheless, I love it in There and am amazed by the potential.  Can't wait for PB3! ~*Where are we going?  And why am I in this handbasket?*~

Additionally it should be added to the poll--

"Because everything in-world turns into a popularity contest and goes so far as to spill out into Avatar of the Week type boards; that every contest is inadvertantly rigged to favour those who are more popular, those with more T$, those who solicit themselves, and those who know how to lure unsuspecting strangers to poll signs; that in order to so much as get the time of day from anyone, ever, you've got to be among the respective elitist clique of Jopy-sympathisers/homosexuals/greifers/web-masters/designers/whiners/forum-hammerers/boardists/buggyists; that you are ridiculously unimportant and have been sidelined even by former companions in favour of thrills and pat social occasions. That no matter how hard you try, you will never leave any mark on There."

Just my two-cents, for what it's worth. (Two cents.)  ;)

Are you still treesitting?  A while back I was riding around and tried to find you on your tree to say hi, but you weren't online at the time.

LOL! I am, but I'm not in There much because I just moved and my DSL hasn't come and the lag really gets to me during the Beta. But I'm thinking of actually canning the tree-sitting. There has been such a lack of care. LOL! But really, I've had a few people come to pledge my support. I was hoping for more, but, eh, what can ya' do?

Actually, I've had a lot of fun just siotting up there by myself. I think I'll make an official declaration later. Besides, it appears that most of my issues will be resoved in PB3 which is coming up damn soon. Additionally, by then I'll have my DSL back so all will be good. (c;

Oh, and don't mind me when I sound so morbid like that. (c; It's mostly satire--things seem funnier when you otherwise focus on the negative aspects. I guess I get that from reading too much Rush Limbaugh.

I think the fact that it costs money to design your own clothes (well, to submit them) is irritating (sorry if that's wrong, I'm not a good speller)  I just feel that is one thing that would keep me interested, because I want to design my own clothes (and not sell them.)  I wan't to be an individual damn it! (do you think i use parentheses too much?)

I agree, Plz. I think they could very well go about to lower the cost some, and I imagine they will if they get more people to approve the designs and such. I've got a load of my 3D plants sitting on my hard drive just waiting until the prove for plant submission comes down some.

Well the submission cost is in place for a couple reasons.  First, it keeps a flood of designs for coming in.  This both helps to ensure quality, and keep there from being excess competition.  Not to mention that they also seem to have a hard enough time with the submission review process as is.
Second, they need to have Therebucks returned to them.  When money is in circulation between avatars, There Inc is left out.  Once they get money back, it's out of the system.  This not only helps prevent "virtual inflation" but also means Therebucks (which have a real value) in the pockets of There Inc.  That's why there's a submission fee, and wholesale prices.
Personally, I'd like to see a method where we could submit a design for a cheaper price, but only be limited to having one or two of the design.  This would make it easier for people to make individual clothes for themselves.  If they later wanted to be able to auction off the item or purchase more, they could pay the rest of the full submission (probably plus a little more.) I just started playing There last week. I am not leaving anytime soon. For those of you that are bored with There, it could be worse, you could be playing TSO. ::: shudders :::

After spending 8 months in TSO first as a beta tester amd then a PAYING beta tester I am ready to move on. There is very exciting for me. I know I sound like a gushing noob, but I cant help it! After 8 months playing the most boring game EVER, There is like paradise. I am having a BLAST now!

Ive run into several people I know, and the new people I have met have all been great!! Okay okay I'll shut up now.  :laughroll:

Therebucks. Its is already hard to make some. And if you do make some it is not much at all. Therebucks is important cause that how you can buy your fun around in There.
ex: buggie, hoverboard, clothes and now the new cycle.
Thoses things are impessive. Yes you start off with 10000 therebucks. But if you are not a designer or a builder. Then consider yourself that all you will get and you will soon see that it goes fast now of course you could use your credit card to buy more therebucks.
And if people cant use credit card or make therebucks...they will leave. Not fun to stand around and see people with toys and new clothes. They will just go away. It is the same way in real life. If you dont have money to buy new clothes or even buy a skateboard or whatever and you see your friends having them...you kinda get depress or sad and you just go off by your own. There is kinda the same way. No money, no candie.
They should make games where you can win Therebucks or something to encourage people to stick around. And know that soon or later they will be able to have fun like anyone else.
My canadian toonie worthless of a opinion. (does that make sense eeechhhh)

I kind of disagree with you LucasMoon because when I was a newbie I just bought a shirt,a pair of pants, and a hover board and had a great time. I don't believe you have to spend a lot of extra money to get most of the benefits of the THERE enviroment. Talk to people, make friends and they will loan you boards or carts. Hell, people have given me clothes!  :D  So maybe your feelings about your life in THERE is reflecting your feelings about your life out of THERE. (OH.. MY.. GOD I sound like Dr. Phil)

I have to agree with the guy who said "the signs are becoming downright annoying to the point every place i go i'm lagging having to load 50 signs of crap. those billboard signs took the cake if they don't fix them soon There will become nothing more than a ####ty tropical junkyard of crap." I hope there will be new ways to limit this form of expression in the new build.

Anyway, I'm having a great time in THERE so far and plan to hang around until the lure of Star Wars:Galaxies calls for me. THERE really caught my imagination once I was accecpted to the Voice Chat beta. I would suggest anyone with broadband to apply for this great feature. It gives THERE a new entertaining dimension.

MadCat, i'm one of those people who never spends. I went around in Newbie cloths for 2.5 months until I got sick of the look and bought some cloths, and now i'm being cheap again. :)

Unfortunatly, I have to disagree. You dont HAVE to buy new things all the time, but it sure is a big part of the experience. And the hard time we're having now for getting ThereBucks is only donig more damage then good to our user experience.

Hopefully, they said that jobs should be availble on PB3. Lets see how it will improve things.

I would and probly am going to leave because no one seems to like me in there... But if I had any other reason it would probly be the fact that they want to start charging. And I already pay enough for my cable. And the lag is very very poor, but then again unlike other games this has 1000's of users at one giving time. It's been pretty good, for the average user they probly wont even notice much if any lag.

I had a skypad with a 10 minute freefall drop and a great view of the islands. It was a very popular hangout with club members and others. Due to it's enormous height it was no impediment to the scenic beauty at ground level.
Skypads, except for very very low ones (that can be rebuilt easily) are now impossible since pb3 as there seem to be no objects that dont get regularly returned. I totally agree that something had to be done about the signage problem, and I agree we dont want the landscape cluttered with too many low built skypads either. I am just very sad that skypadding at any decent height seems to be a thing of the past. Building, especially using unconventional objects creatively was a major part of my enjoyment in There. I just dont get the same thrill out of owning a ready built clubhouse. It would be cool if you could rent empty bits of sky just as you can rent clubhouse space, and if owner dropped items in such a space were not subject to the retrieval rules. I know I speak for a small minority and the developers have more pressing concerns. It probably wont make me leave There in a huff :-) I have made lots of nice friends and there is still my hoverboard to ride...but still :-(

I wish there was more new areas to explore.  I trully hoped that I would be exploring the new islands after pb3 started... no such luck.  All fun zones, and mostly unused empty funzones...

I want more unique interesting places to find and explore.

I also wish there were new areas to explore.... and perhaps eventually 'land plots' that could be purchased instead of a house.  Like cat, I enjoy creating skypads more than paying for a standard clubhouse or home.  It's more creative I suppose.

But, yes, more islands, more to explore.  That would be nice. "I would never die for my beliefs because I might be wrong."
