That is, unless Uncle John and Mackie have already been doing this in their newsletter...

Some more firsts for me. (Yes, tooting my own horn...)

"First to single-handedly cause a major server crash during public hours." (Not proud of that one, but it was a first, I believe.)

"First to set foot on the new land in PB2."

"First to create an in-world blog."

"First to create the raft-like floor effect using half-logs."

The burden is really on the user to report your firsts somewhere as soon as they occur, although I do take a lot of time out to investigate each first. Notice how there is always a delay before new firsts are added to my list. And if I do make a mistake, let me know so I can reopen the investigation.

Well, in regard to finding the new islands, from the instant the new beta download was available, people were hammering the servers trying to get back in. I happened to be in TeamSpeak with a group of us the instant the servers went back online. We all logged in and immediately began playing with the new features. My first act was to do a check for new land. As soon as I confirmed there was new land, I started my trek out to it. Once on my way, I announced in TeamSpeak that there was new land. As soon as I said what direction it was in, everyone began a mad dash toward the new islands. I landed on it probably 15 seconds(!) before Phedre and Wolf, who were on my tail.

And on another note, how about the first to discover stacking and building that enabled all these neato skypads? Hehe, that would be myself. Nim had a lab out in the oceon testing all sorts of stuff, but i was the one who figured out how to stack with hover pack and told Nim. Spliff, i may even have the screenies from that experiment - i'll try to dig them up for you

Awesome! I have been trying to track down the first people to stack ramps, benches and such and discover this antigravity. This is a major discovery... any information you have on this would be much appreciated. BTW were you the ones to put floating benches around Hoverboard park?

Thank you, but who was the one to stack those floating benches in hoverboard park on or before February 7th? Was that you or NIM or someone else? Until I find that out I have to put this first on hold.

Spliff,

I originally built the first sculpture in the boneyard, before 2/7 not sure of the date, where i discovered you could stack at least 3 from the ground, at that time there where no floating benches in bones. There was a post around this time in forums about There Clutter and someone referenced my sculpture in that. Then i thought of useing the hover pack to stack and did that out in the ocean, at the same time Nim was working on the lab - we shared ideas. Then Nim built his skypad, at that time i did not see any benches or couches in bones, then Minai built bleachers in bones on 2/11/03(see forums) and i suspect when she removed some of or most of the ramps, the benches stayed. Does that help - i am still hunting in the forums for the post on the clutter.

I don't know if this would qualify, but at a party, at which Tenchi was DJ'ing on his shoutcast server, I believe I hold title to starting There's first ever mosh pit. It's rather interesting, though, to see 20 avatars jumping all over the place and running into each other.

Hello All,

I'm not sure if I'm the first to emoti-run, emoti-hover, etc. in There or not. The closest real life analogy is skywriting

I was recently playing the Human Frogger game in There (running around and dodging buggies coming after me). While doing so, I used an automation program, AutoIt, to automatically type in emoticons like '''love' and '''dagger' while manually navigating my avatar at the same time. This resulted in my avatar leaving trails of emoticons all over the place. It was quite funny because the emoticon trails distracted buggy drivers, and made it harder for them to hit me...LOL

Soon afterwards, I automated emoticons again while manually navigating a hoverboard. While doing so...I realized: I could leave trails of hearts in mid-air, which would be perfect for marriage ceremonies in There.

In the future, if There creates a '''dove' emoticon, I could then leave trails of doves flying all over the place, above peace rallies, at magic shows, etc.

This is kinda silly but, I believe I was the first to "Moonwalk"? haha at Kysses and Kershocs last night, they played Billy Jean and I started moonwalikn haha, well then we all did. Looks pretty silly, do a body mirror and hit down arrow about every half second, practice haha.

Lame possible firsts.. (pb2, can you blame me?)

First to save at transition from pink to blue sky in saja.
-Possibly- first to save at transition from day to night in tyr.
-Possibly- first to save an "always works" 3 single footstep forward or backward moonrise/sunrise location in Tyr.
-Possibly- First to lay a 301 sign down on Cangrijo: there were lots of books, Tikki scrolls, and and some ramps on the center plateau from the naming party, but no signs that I ever saw. I planted one at the cliffdiver point at the thighs of cangrijo

(IM me in-client for a view)
-Possibly- First to make There_Monitor location save, and erect a sign/shrine to her name.
-Possibly- Longest kiss

10 hours and some change.
-Possibly- First to macro and record for playback upon key a hover-board stunt routine.

Anyway.. no one else I've talked to can refute any of these.. but I am still a newb.. so could be wrong. The first one is the only one I'm -really- sure of lol. Who else would spend almost 5 hours climbing just to see blue sky : )

Not sure if this is news or not...

Today, I found out that one can build an elevator by stacking 5 degree platforms

Due to collision detection, by walking into the bottom-most 5 degree platform, you are automatically propelled onto the top-most one in an elevator-like effect. It's a bit different than power jumping (which was described by Digital_Signal_X in another post) because you don't have to right-click/jump to go up.

I reached the stackable limit after 10 or so, but it automatically propelled my avatar 1/4 to 1/3 of the way up the height of my clubhouse.

I'll have to experiment some more so I can build elevators that automatically propell visitors up to the clubhouse's rooftop in matter of seconds.

I forgot to mention that a portion of the stairway is a bridge. I'm sure others can use similar bridge-building methods to connect skypads as well

Guess I'll add in the first ever there sling shot, a stationary set of logs in a ladder you jump once though, and using collision detection bug, shoots you up and a way.

It's still in front of my house if you want to try it. IM me in-client. Also behind my house could be the first possible

"bug stand" , 2 types, one is two barrier logs supporing each side of a bug like a mechanics garage on top of two goal posts, the second type is 4 goal posts with the bugs tires exactly aligned on top. You can walk under both stands and see the underside murals of bugs.

I suspect someone else may have done this first.. it seems like such a natural thing to try.

i have a feeling on the staircase thing with logs, Lloyd, that Calvin_J4 and Chanel beat you to that one awhile ago. When Calvin was building his deck behind the VCS clubhouse, that was how he and Chanel did it. Sorry :dunno:

LOL! No prob. I try to lend as much of my stuff out as I possibly can when I'm going offline. If I can't find anyone to lend it to, I usually just drop it somewhere were some poor, fundless newbie will find it. In the case of the hoverboat, I think it's still enough of a novelty that anyone who's been around for even a long while will still dig it. I love the thing. It's my baby!

me and EvanK were the first to wrap a hoverboat around a pillar on a club house, thanks chanel for the pillar lol. Sorry too...

also i was first to create an elevator out of ramps u can see it at the anti social house. also it fun if u jump right before you hit it. cause it launches you really high. :thumbsup:

Was wondering if anyone has made it from Cangrejo to Tiki by hoverbike yet. If not, I am currently doing it.

i was the first to penetrate the new 'info' hut..i think? (6-8)

in these pictures..we are standing on the second level of he info hut..floating aboe the grass ground level.. i got in there by going on top og the pineapple hut and someone maneuvering my way through the walls... then my avatar started violently shaking!! wrote a poem for every planet

A response to so many questions...To flip your hoverboat over, just turn off your forcefields and let someone hit the center of your boat with a hoverbike in turbo. It will take a few tries but if you do it right, it will flip it upside and put your screen view as if you are underground. You can also hop on and off your boat while it is upside down, for some quite startling screenies!!! Hope it works for you, keep trying!!!

ps. to right your boat, hit both mouse buttons :yeahman:

I've searched here and the There forums, and I havent found anyone else who's done it yet, so I guess I'm the first.

In my 2nd week of There, I WALKED to egypt. I did not use a board or buggy, just my feet. I did it by going to ootay island, hoverpacking high enough to see egypt, then I just fell back down when I was facing egypt and started walking. It took about 3 days of walking, but I did it.

i think from this forum me and sumox were the first to have a floating conversation. not the way that they did it through the info hut but i made a conv on a sky pad then i took it away and we just floated there in air i cant really supply a picture of it b/c of the way the angles are.

I have no idea if I'm the first, but I think I might be...

Ever notice that if you jump from a high spot on a hoverboard, you can slow your drop by rotating your hoverboard like a helicopter propellor?

If you jump from the "I dare you to jump" sign in Saja (sp?), you can reach the ground in 41 seconds by pointing your board straight down.

If you jump from the "I dare you to jump" sign in Saja (sp?), you can reach the ground in 59 seconds by using the helicopter method described above.

Using these facts, I can claim that the There world has AIR FRICTION. I haven't seen a post like this, so I assume it's a first, but I do believe it is a significant "scientific" discovery. Try it out for yourself. *The True Answer is that there is none*

Amyjoe, I also bookmarked all the funzones in Cangrejo.. (I'm such a dork.) I just used the event location finder to teleport down the list, took me less then an hour, and I did it on the tuesday wednesday evening of may 28th, the night after there came up for pb3. My first night was spent exploring, realizing only the new stuff was on the main 3 islands, except funzones.

Ducki, what date did you do that?
I have a pic from before June 5th

Sherov.. test this by timing the fall by having the hoverboard level and not spinning.. vs. level and spinning. When you slant downward, you -do- increase your accelleration to a higher maximimum velocity I believe.

Well folks I don't know if anyone else has been under the tomb or should I say in the "skyspace" that the tomb occupies. If no one has been there before then I guess that would make it a there first. Here are some screenshots of my fantasticly fun trip under the egypt tomb and then looking out at the pyramid below since the tomb is actually floating in the sky :laugh:

I had to brighten the picture with the view from the tomb because it is so dark in that alternate dimension the tomb is in that you can barely see outside. ...just call me Number 2

I think I was the first to hop onto a hoverboat while in space, and fall from a 3 hour freefall in 4 and a half minutes.

To hop onto a hoverboat while falling, change the zoom level to low zoom, and face south. Then when you're facing south, take out your hoverboat and select hop on from the my things menu, but dont click it until you see the hoverboat go though the avatar. You will get a message saying that you are too far away, but you will still hop on the boat. Unfortunately the boat is falling so fast that you cannot control it.

To get to the ground in a few minutes, while on the hoverboat from the steps above, press and hold the up arrow. When you get closer to the ground, the boat will start falling even faster, and the noze will point towards the ground. Then when you hit the ground, you will be going so fast that you will go THROUGH the ground, to the underworld of There. I've done it two times, and both times I went so fast I went underground.

Sorry, DSX, I got you on the "first self-guided tour of There". I had one back in February. You certainly have the first public one, as I had to keep mine a secret from the general public due to a security hole that was open at the time. (The few users who went on it were not savvy enough to deduce its method of teleportation.)
