According to the all-American Communist, speaking out against their philosophy--I use this term in the loosest possible sense--is a violation of their freedom of speech. It would be utter censure to tell a commie that they are wrong to embrace the principals that are responsible for tens of millions of deaths. Utterly unnacceptable in today's society of open-mindedness that adheres to the instrisic values that make us all Americans, to tell a Red that he's a moron to pine again for the days that Uncle Joe and his pals were out in the Urals raping Jews.
The stupid Republicans just can't shut up and let the pinkos be heard in peace. The stupid Republicans just won't let those hard-working socialist college kids print their pamphlets without spouting some patriotic mumbo-jumbo. The stupid Republicans just need to stop standing up for what they believe in altogether. The world would be a much better place.
I was eaves dropping on some socialis rally in Karuna Plaza, listening with detatched amusement as they railed against the evils of the current presidential administration, railed against the injustice that had been done to them by the fascist conservative extremists, railed against the global conspiracies perpetrated by the rich investment bankers whose hands are in everyone's pockets, who have all the world leaders on a leash. The government had been lying to them their whole lives and they knew it. Then with even more enthusiasm they started talking about the legalisation of drugs. After all, they said, if this is really a free country, no one should tell them what they should put in their bodies. After all, if this is a free country, no one should try to stifle their personal self-expression in the form of hallucinogenic substances. After all, LSD is harmless. Marijuana too. Cocaine and crack have a bad rep, but are really quite safe if taken in moderation. The all-American passtime. The only thing these socialist wackos can't complain about.
They never discuss the feasability of socialism. They try to drop lines such as "Marx was misunderstood," "We've never seen a pure Communist system in operation," or, "I just want everyone to have the benefits of being equal to his fellow man." You never hear how the system is supposed to sustain itself. You never hear how you are going to motivate people to do their allotted jobs. You never hear how you are going to prevent the poerful from being greedy. You don't hear much at all. Just face it; socialism is a fad, an image thing, much the same way intellectualism is.
You can't possibly be intelligent unless you wear turtle-necks or cardigans. You can't possibly be intelligent unless you drink Starbucks. You can't possibly be intelligent unless you are a vegetarian. You can't possibly be intelligent unless you demonstrate your care for the environment by driving a hybrid vehicle or attending WWF fund-raisers. Don't fool yourself into thinking you have any brains whatsoever unless you've attended an Ivy League University. Don't be convinced you are smart at all unless you contribute regularly to charity organisations that support Louis Farakhan in his efforts to help impoverished arabs and African Americans. Don't get comfortable with your intellect unless you are well-aware of your government's deceit.
It is a known fact that all members of Mensa are atheists that don't eat meat. It is a known fact that all nuclear physicists believe in socialised health care. It is a known fact that all famous musicians and actors support the PLO unconditionally and assert a better life for the poor, repressed members of Hamas.
No matter what you believe, you are wrong unless you treat Bill Clinton like a rock-star wherever you are. No matter what you believe, you are wrong unless you are a burnt-out window-licker like Timothy Leary (who should be your idol, too.) No matter what you believe, you are wrong unless condemn any act of war or aggression unless it is committed like a Democrat.
Eventually, I got tired of listening in and went somewhere to watch some old member of There change into several different outfits in short sucession. Such soft, sweet, flawless legs I'd love to have wrapped behind my back or over my shoulders. Her perfect contours in their butterscotch polygonal glory I'd love to have fitted against mine. Sure it was probably sexist to view her as window dressing at the moment but I knew she wouldn't mind. Why else would she be wearing hotpants? But that's just me, another stupid, sexist, racist, fascist, totalitarian, war-mongering, hateful, bigoted, unenlightened, meat-eating Republican. God bless America.

I bet everyone is just too afraid of WaterSign's controversiality (is that a word?) And are too scared to argue because he might ruin their World-View. I personally don't like fighting and am glad that people know when to keep their mouths shut in order to avoid silly arguments.
On the other hand, maybe nobody is posting arguments here, because they used WaterSign's link? The one that says "Send Hate Mail Here"? Never Knows Best...

They'll have a hard time doing that. I posted the wrong addie. They should send it here.
Also keep in mind that I just posted this damn thing only 13 hours ago. The commies need time to organise their arguments because they are so used to other people doing their thinking for them.

Hello Watersign - I have never met you before in the world, I have read some of the previous posts that you have written, and do find some of your thoughts interesting even if they come off abrasive. Personally, I don't go into 'there' to "wack politics" or study socialism, not to say that you are of course. I use is as an escape from my normal drudgery. I am still perplexed on whether this is a memento or a memoir. Meaning, that is it truly a memoir, a diary of your thoughts. Or is it really a memento, a trophy of how you view people in 'there' or even in the world? You say that you are an 'unpopular' avatar, but isn't this a way to show off one of your talents, one of your trophies? Just a few questions to get some opinions from you as well hon. Although I do not agree with all that you write, it is an interesting read. I tend to agree with Vikio. I am a 'boardie' who doesn't provoke or argue. But, as I always say, to each his own. Words are in black and white so I hope you do not intend to take this as 'hate mail' and also consider it an interesting read, even if you also do not agree with all of it 'When you are sorrowful look again in your heart, and you shall see that in truth you are weeping for that which as been your delight..'

LOL! But look... Jabba the Hutt was fat. They killed him. Harkkonnen was fat. They killed him. Bob (in Fight Club) was really fat.... they killed him too... he was so fat that they had to make a point of his death, it being the only one in the movie. John Candy died young, as did, Chris Farley and that other guy. In California fat people are banned from certain restruants and public areas and are openly spit on in other parts.

Lol, bama, i love that scrolling text there. Jabba the Hutt was evil ( I love his tastes in clothing though ), Dunno who Harkkonnen is, Bob died because he got shot, and his death helped in the movie, Dunno why John Candy died, Chris Farley and that other guy( I can't remember his name either now ) both died because of drug overdoses ( suspectedly ). Drew Carey is fat and he's still alive! Rosie O'Donnal( sp ), Euretha Franklin ( I think shes still alive ), Ben Franklin was fat and look how good he did! Personaly I'd rather date an overly fat girl than an overly skinny one. And if two people get traped under something and have to live without food, who do you think would live longer, a skinny person or a fat one? A fat one! Because your body will feed off of your body fat! Meatloaf was famous and he was fat, Nathan Lane isn't skinny and he was in one of the most popular broadway shows these past years! *End Rant* "Don't anticipate outcome," the man said. *blink* I am overweight, but in this country, according to our surgeon general, who isnt?
I dont want to be nor want to be with some skinny underweight-underfed-gonna-blow-away-with-a-good-gust-of-wind kinda person.
Skinny is over-rated anyways...I ws skinny once, and I was the sickest I had ever been... |
'clap Amen to that Bama. Skinny is definitely overrated. The media is always trying to tell the public that being a stick figure is beautiful but I say damn that! Gimme a women with some meat on her bones, not some 98 pound frail piece of women who's bones will fracture with the slightest touch! When I go to hug someone, I wanna to have something to hold on to dammit! |

Quite honestly I'd rather date Jack Black than Beck or Mick Jagger. I need a man with some substance to him who can handle a woman as intense and passionate as I can be :P
So my vote is for the big boys.
Besides, look how big Elvis got and women were STILL flinging panties at him! Sin like you mean it!

I love Elvis, didn't matter how big he got that man could sing!!
It doesn't matter to me how big someone is as long as they are passionate and caring.

on the whole fat or not issue ..
'whatever
Love people for who they are, not for any preconceived notions you may have about them because of the way someone looks.
Referring to my other post, most women I talk to in There find it hard to believe I haven’t had a date in my life time because I appear to be a "great guy".
That’s simply because they have the chance to get to know the 'real' me and don't have any misconceptions about the way I look before they (or I) even bother to say hello.
The vast majority of my friends online are women ... can't say that I mind But, there’s just no way that could ever happen in real life - because it doesn't. Just wish more people moved away from the preconceived opinions before they even say anything to someone else in real life .... the world would be a much happier place.
It may sound corny - but its true; It's whats on the inside that counts.
... but I being poor, have only my dreams. I have spread my dreams under your feet. Tread softly, becuase you tread on my dreams.

Fat people never get leading roles in movies. Fat people never become famous rock stars. Fat people never are seen at broadway premiers. Hell, fat people can't even get into a soap commercial these days.

Well to get back to original topic, as requested! I personally feel tha Communism is the best government possible - On paper. What Communism offers on paper is a sort of Utopia where everyone is equal.
Unfortuneately, Communism does not work that way because people are greedy. It basically comes down to the difference between egalitarian and asymmetrical redistribution. On paper, Communism is egalitarian, where all the goods gathered by the overseeing state get returned to the populace. The failing of Communism comes in the human personality. The dictators of a Communistic society, upon gathering up the posessions of all the people realize that they could get rich off of it - Hence only a portion of the goods return to the populace.
With the way people are - Democracy is pretty much the best government out there. Democracy is a horrible form of government, but it is the best that will work given the current state of man. (I believe Franklin said something to this effect upon approving the Bill of Rights (or one of the early governmental charters, which I cannot recall at this precise moment)) "Great liars are also great magicians"
"The victor will never be asked if he told the truth."

Alright then - The main problem with Democracy is the same thing that is wrong with Communism - People in general.
In a perfect democracy, everything would go the way the majority desires it go.
In our current system that isn't the case. (Take for example how Cleveland, Tilden, and Gore had more popular votes but lost because of the set-up of the government)
Pork belly spending - Politicians are open to somewhat behind the scenes coercion through lobbying - That sends taxpayers' dollars to trivial matters within a politician's home state.
Gross mishandling of governmental funds - When there are billions of dollars that are lost to waste, something is wrong. Not to mention a government shouldn't be spending more than it is taking in.
These are some of the reasons why democracy is flawed - Just like communism - It isn't the idea, it's the people.
People make democracy a rather poor government from a Utopian standpoint. But as I've already said - Given human "nature", Democracy is the best type of government to hold human stupidity and greed in check. "Great liars are also great magicians"
"The victor will never be asked if he told the truth."

LOL! You are a college student aren't you? This is the crap you hear in sociology class.
There is no Utopia. You would have to assume that it's only viable if we were all identical clones of one another with our passions, wants, desires, stripped from us in place of souless machine-like organisms whose structure of governement is comparable to a beehive or an anthill. That's what society would be, minus the people factor.
Now, keep in mind that we are also a Democratic-Republic. We try to respect the rights of minorities and such, including in elections. What sense does it make that, say, in a hypothetical scenerio, that 150,000,001 voters in California vote for Democratic Nominee Bore, yet Republican Nominee Shrub receives 150,000,000 votes from the other 49 states. So, do we bend to the will of a small part of the country just because it happens to be more greatly populated? Or do we count by landmass covered?
Now, since the majority of the country believes in some faith or religion of some sort that includes a God, why should we respect the rights of the minority that does not, to have a reasonable seperation of church and state? I'll tell you why. Because we look out for the little-guy, for better or worse.
Again, don't say Democracy is horrible of the only problem is the people in it. They are seperate from one another. Also don't say that Communism is good "in concept" because the only way a Commie government can thrive, is to repress the rights of individuals.
Now, you, as a bleeding hard leftist, should know better.

Anyhow, you asked for my views on the flaws in democracy and there they are.
If you want my opinion on marxist socialists, then it is that they are people who don't want to take responsibility for their own lives.
And I view the major flaw in the election system as the electoral college. But I won't go there, since you seem to be intelligent, and I will assume you already know about it.
And yea, there is no Utopia. That's why I'm happy to live in the United States. I've already said it and I'll say it again. Democracy is far from a Utopia. But it is the best government that can deal with such large numbers of people.
As for any contact with left wing politics, you're rather mistaken. What I am pointing out are inherent problems in systems. I've been pointing out problems with democracy, if you'd prefer I go on and attack the utilisation of communism I'd be more than happy.
Communism isn't bad, in theory, but real world applications just kill and starve people, hence it is a poor form of government unless utilised by a race of automatons(highly unlikely) On limited scales, yes, *limited* socialist societies work, but only really for societies that are small and isolated, where socialism is sort of required for survival. Communist dictators in the real world are just power freaks who want all to give them everything unquestioningly and then have them grovel in the dirt for a pat on the back. Happy? On paper, good. Real application, bad. Hence, Democracy is a step up. On paper, decent. Real application, decent. (With decent being slightly better than acceptable) Real applications are what matter the most. And democracy has thus far been the most successful.
And since There is a facet of the real world, all things considered, it is peopled by real people, hence views WILL be expressed.
But keep in minds some things are viewed from a neutral standpoint, you seem to think I am a communist symapthizer. Calling me "left wing" repeatedly. I can equally attack both "wings" for their retarded views on how I should live my life. On one hand I should be a mindless slave, living for the state, on the other I should be a wild heathen leaping through the woods, a gun in each hand, stalking my latest prey. Not everything is politically motivated. Don't assume someone is is associated with one group just because they have yet to analyze that group in a given forum.
And as for my stand on politics in There. There shouldn't be politics of any form in There... Granted it is a forum for speech, and I'm all for freedom of speech and all... I just enjoy being some places where I can get away from it (However wishful that thinking may be)
All in all, because it WILL happen, do I want to see rallies for political parties in There? No. Will I ignore them though? Yes.
EDIT: This is pretty much all I have to say on this topic, so it'll be my last post here, feel free to IM sometime if anyone feels the need to further discuss the failings and achievements of modern governments and their applications either in There or out. "Great liars are also great magicians"
"The victor will never be asked if he told the truth."
