(Note: The following views and opinions do not necessarily represent the views of the author, or anyone else for that matter.)
And it was dawn again, or rather, should I say, 5pm PST when the whole of the early birds--who either do not know of or shun the backdoor access--are sucked into the world like microbe-eaten crumbs into a shiny, enticing Hoover vacuum. The analogy of crumbs merely scratches the surface for the most part.
I wath them from atop my perch, floating midair in my boat over the hoverboard park, contemplating my nearly frightening fascniation with watching the little pixels below flashing across the lake of green. All people attempting to ride vehicles, newbs with borrowed/stolen boards or completely directionless members of questionable temporal existence, circling the funzon enclosures aimlessly, pointlessly--never actually in the funzones. Silently relate it with the primordial instincual response to such stmuli, as I would have thirty thousand years ago, sitting in some cave, trainging my eyes on gnats buzzing around, so that I may kill them. Not to assert that I would kill these poor people below me, doing the whole gnat thing with such proficiency, but had it been a paintball enabled zone, I would be hard pressed not to partake in a bit of target practice.
And this is where I get to the meat of this memior, this loathingly sad tale of another anonymous avie; stricken by that particular realisation of these sad truths, making their impact ever so much more potent.
Not only now am I unpopular, but I am also wanted by the Mafia, another elitist organisation who takes their role as an individual too seriously, misunderstanding what it actually means to be a part of a community: there is no prerequisite for a criminal element, much less one of a violent nature. I may merely be beating a dead horse (the dead horse being all of you whoa re unlikely to believe me... his name is Gerald) but the Mafia has lied to you in saying they no longer do "hits," assassinations, via paintball guns. I've actually been shot a few times by their members now and I'm not even sure who it was who initiated the hit. Probably what's-her-name herself because she thinks I'm an intolerant homophobe or a Republican or something.
But yeah, it's not as if I actually care that they want to have their stupid little fun and run around and shoot people, etc. Call it role-playing if you want, but I think it boils down more to people with no life and and even less grasp on realty. But that's really what role-playing has been about since the middle of the century.
Entor forcefields. Hoorah. Now I can be even less interactive than I was previously. Sometimes when I'm hating it all, I turn the thing off and stand in the middle of the desert and let the griefers-by-choice run me over continually, thinking I'm afk or whatnot. Watching my frail body bounce around and slide across the landscape helps me fulfil those masochistic tendancies for which I cannot afford hospital visits in reality. I've actually had a few ask permission to run me over first, which I am truly conflicted over whether the polite demeanor of these people anulls the harm of the deed. I'd rather just be randomly batted around like a soccarball anyway.
No conversation, let's just get straight on with the road rashing, please. It's almost the same as that hard-wred coital love with complete strangers, the kind Freud always warned you about.
I'd satisfy this need for pain through sky-diving, however the self-inflicted bit really doesn't cut it for me. I'd rather be a victim, being pulled miraculously out of the way by some sympathetic samaritan, asking if I'm all right, if I need medical assistance, if I want to sit down and have a cup of coffee to cool off, tell my life story, show pictures of my cats, cry on their shoulder, etc.
That sort of thing only happens in Danielle Steele novels. You'll never actually see it in good literature or reality, save for the few times a hero leaps from nowhere and does something marvelous to save the day.
The notion of heroism is pretty badly misrepresented, I've got to say. Half of being a hero is having guts. The other half being in the right place at the right time. Sadly their are likely millions of potential heros across the world who never acheive the latter part and are thought of to be those ordinary people.
"Oh, you've never saved a life?"
No. I haven't, at least not directly. But I would if I could. Some say that that's the important thing. That I would. But the thing is, it's not relevant at all. I want to actually do it, save someone's life. I might be remembered. Until then, I'll let this post go down into the forgotten annals of the forums and stock up on paintball rounds so I can defned myself against There's first terrorist organisation.

Hi Watersign!
I just read your post (above) and feel compelled to risk our new-found friendship by exposing the true villain behind your mafia attacks.
Watersign, it was me, Loox, who ordered the hit. And now before you get mad... I just want you to remember that I used to not "get" your posts and we fought all the time... so I thought it'd be a harmless way to express my upset-ness. So yes, I ordered the hit. ONE hit (and it wasn't cheap if thats any consolation). Unfortunately, it seems that word did not get out fast enough, and two were performed by some overzealous mafia members.
Then, about 1 or 2 days after this *hit*, the strangest thing happened... we actually had some constructive dialog and all negative feelings were brushed aside. And I honsetly assumed from the response to one of my posts about lack of griefing that you *knew* it was me.
It is clear now that you didn't, so at the risk of re-opening old wounds, and in the interest of honesty, I simply have to fess up.
So here is hoping you see the humor in it all... and if not, at least seeing the humor in the fact that it cost me 6k! 4k for hte hit and 2k for the second unauthorized one.
*cowers and constantly looks over his shoulder while awaiting Watersign's revenge*

LOL! (Psssst! I figured that bit out! Naw, In actuality I think The Mafia is kinda a cute concept. These articles I do are just for fun. It's sorta my Holden Caulfield/Travis Bickel side coming out in a creative stream. I still hate Daemona because of her attitude about things in general, however. I actually staked out the Mafia Stronghold for about an hour by hoverboat waiting for someone to show up so I could pull a drive-by, a` la Al Capone, until I realised it was a no-paintball zone. For any Mafia members reading this, though, I consider you fair game. It's a dirty business being in the mob, and if I see you, it's gonna be colourful too.

*laugh* Thanks. The thing about The Mafia that they really need to get straightened out is some of the details. I mean when the guy was trying to shoot me (his gun wasn't working for a full 5 minutes so I had to stand and wait) he had no idea who the hit was from. I always thought that these hits were supposed to have some sort of grand announcement ("Don Salieri sends his regards!" -BANG! Godfather style.

BTW Mafia Hits are back by popular demand. And by now you should realize I did not open the hit against you but I sure did enjoy the screenshots. No love lost between us eh Watersign? No I don't waste my hard earned therebucks on whiny little punks. My 10K hit is out on a much bigger target, someone who has gone out of their way time and again to be a fly in my ointment. Heck you're not even worth the $2 therebucks for the paintball round Watersign.

LOL! You've never seen Taxi Driver? It's with Robert DeNiro and Jody Foster, Cybil Shepherd, Harvey Keitel and a few others, directed by Scorsese and basically about a kinda crazy young man (DeNiro) trying to find his place in the world, confused by many of the feelings he has. It's regarded as a halmark of American Cinema in many circles. It was nominated for a few acadamy awards I think.

EXCUSE ME! I am so freaking happy you find someone spouting blatant LIES about ME and MY clubs entertaining! I thought I was sticking up for myself and now I get accused of flaming. Isn't that rich. I've numbered the amount of time my club was flamed by poor little abused Watersign
1. Anyone can read what we are about at our website. We strive to provide quality services to the players in There. How this is not being "part of a community" is beyond me.
2. We've been doing them for weeks and poor little Georgey Porgy was one of the first MY club did. I never spent one thin dime on the hit. It was paid in full by your pal Loox, who stated as much. I don't interact with you unless I am getting therebucks to do it, that is how little consequence you are to me. I certainly wouldn't PAY to interact with you!!! And then you accuse me of passing judgement on you when I have never accused of being either of those things! Get over yourself!
3. Not sure if that is supposed to be a vague reference to my club or not but if it is you can get bent. We do not terrorize people. We host events, build race courses, run a pawn shop, give out THOUSANDS of dollers worth of therebucks and items every week and still manage to look good in the morning. Don't you dare equate me or mine with terrorists! We do not blow ourselves up and kill other people! We do not engage in sign warfare (you know where we go to other's areas and leave notes and signs for them with nasty messages like YOU left for US in OUR clubhouse! )
If anything I think YOU are the one terrorizing US! You have already admitted to stalking me by hanging around in your hoverboat outside of my house waiting to shoot me when I port in! Guess you didn't know I bookmarked the INSIDE of my house to port to. Then you entered my home when I was not there and left a threatening scroll! I have never done any of those things to you. But if you want to get ugly we can. Next time I will not IM you to retrieve your scroll. Next time I will call a helper and have them read the threats you leave and report you for abuse. Is that what you want? Do we really need to go there?
I come and go as I please and I will not give you the satisfaction of altering my in client activities because you have set about to stalk me and terrorize me. Maybe the reason you can't find me in client is because while you are out hell bent on some nobody-likes-me vendetta I am at fun zones hosting events or in Karuna handing out free clothes to newbies. Maybe I'm the top newbie helper for a reason. Maybe my stats speak volumes about what kind of activities I engage in while in client. What do yours say about you?

Here is the nice little scroll this jerk left for me in my house:
Hello! Dear terrorist organisation (a.k.a., The Mafia),
I understand you still persist in your childish games of coersion, intimidation, extortion and assault on the innocent inhabitance of our communal world. Lately you have also decreed your desire to have my head on a platter. Hurah for you!
I will fight to the death, that I see your little criminal racket dissipated. I will fight to the death for the Everyman, and help bring down this neo-fascist fantasy of yours.

Okay, I am confused!
Am I getting this right? Daemona, you run a terrorist organisation known as the Mafia, who basically take on "hits" to take out people others do not like. Yes? There has a system of taking care of griefers which is the IGNORE function. I don't think they intended the paintball guns to be used in this function. The only way you can justify this kind of griefing in game is by saying it's ROLEPLAY. Now so fair enough it's roleplaying. But you expect someone to take it lying down? So they do a bit of roleplaying back and give you guys a taste of your own medicine. Then you start crying cos all of a sudden it's not roleplay right?
Now I know WaterSign extremely well and I know he's not that bothered by this and he is having a bit of fun in fighting back. Well it had to happen sometime and I could have guessed he would be the guy to do it! That message he left in your house was FUNNY. I don't see anything offensive in it. As for reporting him to Abuse. I don't see that he has done anything wrong but all this is simply trying to blacken his name. You need to look at what you are doing before you start criticising others. "Cake or Death?" ~ Eddie Izzard

I didn't see his slandering an entire organization as role playing. His pal authorized the hit. Since everyone is ignorant of how we run nthings, there are three leaders who can grant hits. One of those is myself, the other is Loox. I did not grant that hit. Loox did. Since Loox and Watersign are buddies Watersign didn't go after him in his revenge role playing. No he turned his sites on me because I am more visible and less threatening as a woman. Plain and simple that is how it went down. If Watersign did not target me because he thought I would be an easier target I really want to know why he chose to target me over Loox, the leader the opened, granted, authorized, and paid the hit. Loox has never been a buddy of mine, though I am impressed at how well he can resolve problems by talking them out instead of just babbling. Besides, I'd no idea he was a member of Mafia. It sounded like he was just some average joe who paid you. Besides, you neglected the fact that I am (was, now that you've gone all psychoo about it) targeting the *entire( organisation for fun, as part of the whole "role-play" you so proudly promote. Not just you singularly, though I still think it would have been funny to get a few screenies of you flying into that hilarious Jopy painting.
And yeah, go ahead and see what my stats say about me. I personally do not let rankings rule my existence, but there doesn't seem to be anything sinister about them.
For a 29 year old, you sure have a lot of growing up to do, seriously. NBow if you would please quit harassing me on these forums, I'd appreciate it. (c;

Sweetie, maybe if you can't take the tables being turned on you, you should not be in such a visible position of being "Mafia Princess" as you so proudly state in your other post. Probably the reason why Loox isn't being targeted is simply because he has set his differences with Watersign aside as a misunderstanding. But you are wrong in thinking they were friends in the first instance - otherwise why would Loox have paid for the hit in the first place?
